Rotonda di Badoere
Villa
The attention of anyone passing through Badoere is sure to be drawn to the Rotonda, a large circular piazza bounded by the two colonnades of a villa which no longer exists. The two wings are very different to each other because their functions were very different: the western wing was devoted to commerce and artisan activity and has elegant round arches; the eastern wing was once reserved for the accommodation of workers and is made up of “rustic” houses and cottages. This aspect was attested to as early as 1714. The Rotonda is the village’s main piazza: it is overlooked by the seventeenth century church of Sant’Antonio and the Town Hall. The piazza is also the venue for the Trovarobe antiques fair and the ‘Mostra dell’artigianato e della creatività’, craftsmanship and creativity show.
