Villa Baglioni

In 1718, Giovanni Battista Baglioni bought a seventeenth-century manor house with its dependencies in Massanzago and performed extension and modification works. The main body, restored in the seventies of the twentieth century, which is now the Town Hall, is a massive parallelepiped of two floors plus attic with numerous windows. The only decoration is given by the gable that finshes off the facades. This villa’s fame is tied to its interior decoration such as the frescoes of the young Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, who decorated the central hall with the Triumph of Aurora and events of the myth of Phaethon. These represent his first assignment of this kind and already portray a wise eloquence of his considerable artistic and narrative skills.
